Atlantic Oceanside Dewey Beach Resort

The first night I checked in, within an hour of my stay I was completely covered in bed bug bites. I quickly got my things and the nice male overnight clerk got me a new room and checked it for me without question. However, I had so many bites I ended up having an allergic reaction, was sick for two days, and had to go to urgent care.

I went to my third party booking site about the incident, and they called multiple times as well as emailed and got no response from the hotel. I then went to the desk clerk to make sure they got notes from the overnight one. Which they did. But they never followed up with me, and didn’t ask if they could do anything else after moving my room. They also said their GM “looked but didn’t find anything and it was out of their hands” and that they “couldn’t do anything” and if I wanted to talk to someone I had to try and come in at 7am the next day to hopefully run into their GM.

This was an entirely frustrating experience, where I didn’t even get to sleep the first night because I was showering and dealing with the most uncomfortable scenario possible. I had photos of the bug, my doctors note, and photos of my bites and no one even cared to talk to me about it because it was “out of their hands”.

I come to Dewey almost 6 times a year, I will never recommend this place, and I will never stay here again. Had they attempted to fix this problem, I honestly would’ve just appreciated that and moved on. But they did nothing but make me feel like I was a burden for bringing it up.

The pictures online are deceiving. The blind was torn and duct taped, none of the surfaces were wiped down after the last guests, the shower drain did not drain properly and backed up until you were done showering, peeled paint all over the room, the air conditioner unit could not keep up with keeping the room cool, there were ants all over the bathroom sink, no headboards to the bed (just a wall and 1 pillow).

People that are partying in Dewey on a Friday and Saturday night have zero consideration when they return to their rooms at 2 am. They are loud, obnoxious, pounding on doors, and yelling at each other.

We will definitely be seeking a different place to stay for our future trips to Dewey/Rehoboth. We were very disappointed and dissatisfied for the amount of money that was spent for a 5 night stay and unfortunately have to just suck it up because there is no way in getting your money back per the cancellation policy when you are already there and discover these things.

Memorial Day Weekend Getaway—Perfect for Families & Pets!

We stayed at the Atlantic Ocean Side for memorial day weekend and we had a great experience. Rooms and premises were very clean and entire staff was professional and friendly.
The location is absolutely perfect—steps from the beach and just a quick stroll to all the downtown restaurants and shops. I also loved that its a super pet-friendly hotel.

We'll definitely be back!
