Fins Ale House & Raw Bar - Bethany Beach

If you want really good and cooked well seafood, do not stop at this establishment. There are other restaurants in this area that serve better food for the price. The crab cake which said they used jumbo lump crab couldn't have used more than special or claw crab and for $40 that's criminal. The oyster chowder was thin and all milk with 3 or 4 oysters, no potato or anything else. The seafood chowder was decent and had good flavor. The Calimari was soft, fried at too low of a temperature and had no crunch. And the wings were overcooked and not tossed in the sauce. And the biggest insult was the seafood paella which came out swimming in broth. A real insult to the Spanish dish. Paella's signature is the crispy rice bottom (socarrat) which this dish absolutely did not have. Could we have gone on an off day? Sure. But if you're in the kitchen, you're going to be judged by the product you allow to leave your kitchen. And this time it was not good.

Over the years, I've had mostly positive experiences at Fins. Food has generally been very good but service was really poor a couple of times. This time during Happy Hour in the bar area, the server was exceptional. The raw oysters were local and fresh, the calamari was cooked perfectly, but the chorizo cheese fries were just good (the cheese sauce wasn't my favorite). Prices were very reasonable too. Definitely will keep going back.
Update: Back again with a party of 8 in the bar area winter 2025 at Bethany Beach location. Food was awesome and service exceptional. Highly recommend oysters on half shell.

First time here food was so good I had the fish board with blackened salmon with asparagus and mac and cheese. The salmon was amazing the mac and cheese i probably wont get again the cheese sauce was a little to thick for my liking and my husband had fish and chips he loved it. The Chesapeake hot sauce that's on the table so so good we bought a few bottles when we left. The only downfall was it wasn't to busy and our server wasn't to attentive she really didnt check in on us much at all even when we were waiting to Pay I had to go find her. But that won't stop us from going back the food was really good. Just hope the service gets better especially with the busy season coming
