A Solid Bagel Stop in Lewes
I’ve eaten at Surf Bagel before, so on the way home from a recent business trip I decided to stop again and grab breakfast to go.
I ordered a sesame bagel with egg, cheese, and scrapple, along with a hash brown. The bagel was nicely toasted and very fresh, which is really what you hope for when you’re stopping at a place that specializes in bagels. The sandwich itself was simple but very satisfying. Nothing over the top or crazy fancy, just a well made breakfast sandwich that hit the spot.
The service was friendly and quick, and the place itself has a unique feel to it. Inside they sell quite a bit of Surf Bagel merchandise, which gives it a fun local vibe beyond just being a bagel counter. I included a few photos because the shop has a cool look to it.
I stopped in around 9 in the morning and it was still pretty busy, even during the off season. That tells me this place probably gets packed during the summer months.
Overall, everything was fresh, the staff was nice, and it’s definitely a place I’d stop at again when I’m in the area.

UPDATE: Surf Bagel reached out to discuss my complaint and and they resolved the issue!!
Longtime regular customer (16 yrs). I purchased (04/11/26) a breakfast sandwich (BEC, $11.50) at the lewes location (two eggs and extra bacon),(which is an $4.00 upcharge) drove home without checking the order and this is what I received.
FYI... I experienced the SAME at their MIDWAY location..... (see previous review)

While $4 dollars extra for absolutely nothing isnt going to break my bank, it says to me that
a) the restaurant doesnt quality control their product.
b) the sandwich production line people dont read the orders or dont care what they serve.
In any event, its still unacceptable.
I understand that mistakes can happen, but this was NOT the first time I did not receive what i purchased. I always just chalked it up as a one off, (they were busy, it was during season, blah blah) but its happened WAY too many times.
Surf bagel is the only game in town, so if you want a bagel and patronize their stores, DEFINITELY check your order (at the counter) before you leave. You cannot trust that you will receive what you ordered.

This location has always had sentimental value to me. My Dad built the pagoda outside. I visit anytime I can to remember him and order the same sandwich I did the last time I saw him. I hope this surf bagel stays here forever close to my heart just like my Dad will always be. I was here on Sunday morning and left my bag by mistake, not realizing until 30 minutes before they close. I called and Taylor was very compassionate! She kept it safe and offered to meet me in Milford to return my bag to me (: All the employees here are sooooo kind, and Taylor was especially helpful that day!! Thank you so much.
