Surf Shanty Motel

First time in Dewey Beach and we are so happy we stayed in this adorable, clean, comfortable and perfectly located motel. Steps to the beach, wonderful breakfast shop across the road and some really fun restaurants around the corner. We were able to walk 2 miles on the beach to Rehoboth. Found plenty of sea glass along the way. Andre was so welcoming and you can tell how much he loves this place. April is quiet in the best way. Must be so fun in the summer too! Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

We were surprised to find out today via email from hotels.com that we had a reservation for tonight. We don't have a hotels.com account and neither my husband or I recalled making a reservation. We called Shanty - they said a Mastercard had been charged. Whew, we also don't have a Mastercard so that had to be incorrect. This must be fraud.
Looked further, our PayPal account had been charged $382.92 in August. The Motel will not authorize a move of the "reservation" nor issue a refund. The reservation also had cancellation coverage...seems a waste.
Not a great experience.

Stayed for 3 nights during a wedding weekend in late April. Andre was super friendly and helpful at check in. Stayed in the Wave Rider Retreat and it was clean, comfortable, has everything you need and more for a short stay. The Keurig and coffee supplies were a nice surprise. The motel is vintage hip in decor, but also brand new and tucked away on the south Ocean side of town so it's still quiet. I love that it's on the ocean block for a quick 2 min walk to the sand. Will definitely be back!!
