Surf Shanty Motel

This is a hidden gem of a motel. It was perfect! Quaint. Well decorated. Very very clean. Comfortable beds and pillows. A very short walk to the beach. Everything you would need for a vacation. Bring your own beach towel and chair. The only negative I would point out is the lack of a concrete area to go from pavement to room…right now it is rock. It’s a safety concern for seniors and I would think wheelchairs would find it extremely difficult to maneuver. Overall a 10 star stay! We will be back!

We really couldn't have been more pleased with our stay here. Our goal was to find a locally owned hotel, close to the beach at a reasonable price. Needless to sat Surf Shanty Motel fit the bill. It's location in the middle of Dewey Beach and steps from the beach is unparalleled. The extras like an outdoor shower, in room sound machine, bike rentals, and Fiji water are all greatly appreciated perks. Also, we really liked how responsive and personal management was to us. We had a tornado warning and were quick to tell us where to go.

The one negative is their surf shop was never open when we stopped by. Thus, we couldn't get our free gift. Oh well!

The Surf Shanty Hotel is the perfect weekend getaway location in Dewey! The motel is a minute walk from the beach, had very clean rooms, swift check-in, very comfy and large beds, and the interior design was so fun which was the best touch! If you love a cool and cozy space but want to be by the beach and all the main restaurants and shops you have to stay here!
