The Beacon is a family owned and operated motel, built in 1989. We are the largest lodging place in Lewes with 66 neatly appointed and exceptionally clean rooms. We are centrally located 3 blocks from Lewes Beach and Delaware Bay, and 2 blocks to downtown Lewes Shops and Restaurants. Our rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors with Shops along the 1st floor. Enjoy the view from your private balcony, our 2nd floor pool deck, or our 3rd floor Sun Deck. Rooms include a small refrigerator/Freezer, flat screen TV, blow dryer in bathroom, and Ironing Board/Iron. Children 12 and under stay free, and we offer Free WIFI. Our spacious lobby boasts ample seating, children\'s activities, and a 155 gallon Saltwater Tank with locally caught seafaring creatures from the bay. We have an elevator, but are not handicap accessible.

The rooms were excellent, but for whatever reason, the first room they gave me was missing the knob on the bathroom sink. The desk clerk quickly gave me a different room, but I was a little disappointed that the problem hadn't been flagged and dealt with. The only other problem I encountered was that there were only 1-2 cups of coffee in the coffeemaker when I went to the lobby around 6:00 a.m. Since we'd been told that the desk would not be staffed except 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the pre-season, I'd have appreciated their making a full pot before going home in the evening.

I especially liked the large, indoor common areas. Our group of a dozen was able to enjoy happy hour without crowding into one person's room, and the view from the second floor, where this space was, had a nice view of the descending sun.

The next time we stay in Lewes, this will probably be the first place we check.

We have been coming to Lewes and staying at The Beacon for years! Staff is wonderful, pool is really well maintained, rooms are always clean, coffee is always hot in the lobby. It's been fun watching the property evolve over the years, seeing the updates as they occur. Can't wait for our next stay!

I love staying here. Everyone is so friendly. It's very clean place. My only issues are I wish the bathrooms would have a nightlight and the beds are very hard, where as I prefer softer mattresses. Overall I love staying at the Beacon.
