All we needed was a decently, clean, basic and safe place to stay- we did not expect a four-star hotel experience by any means! However, I would say this place is lucky to get 2 stars.. Upon arrival, there was a note on the door of the office to call a phone number where we received a pass code to get our keys-easy! Sitting on the stoop of another one of the rooms upon arrival around midnight was a shirtless man drinking and smoking a cigarette with his girlfriend.. felt a little sketchy, but not the end of the world- it was just a place to sleep for us.
I stayed in the car with the kids while my husband unpacked the bags into the room.. he seemed kind of hesitant and slow, but I assumed it was because he was tired after we just had driven 5 hours to get there after we worked all day and asked him to get our one month old son and I would grab our daughter whose under 1.5 years old. I picked her up out of her car seat and carried her inside. As I approached the back of the car, not even getting onto the steps to the unit yet, I could SMELL the room!!! it absolutely reeked like cigarettes and urine!! The room was also much smaller than the photos depicted (we have 2 pack n plays to set up for the kids) so needed floor room. I walked into the room and could not bring myself to put my daughter down on the floor. I have never been to a hotel that I seriously could not stay in, but this one takes the cake. I looked at my husband and said “what should we do?”.. we packed to the car back up immediately in the middle of the night and drove down the road hoping for a hotel with vacancy. We did not touch anything in the room, sit on the bed, couch, etc. and immediately returned the key and left.
My husband wrote the office contact that sent him the key code the following day telling them that we did not stay in or touch the room and all of our concerns. They refused to refund us. Thankfully, we were able to find another hotel to stay in for the night after a few tries/stops with vacancy. But seriously, I cannot imagine staying here by myself, let alone with your children! It felt like a seedy, sticky motel, which is wild for the price they were asking!
We ended up staying down the road at a hotel for less that was definitely in need of updating and a bit rundown but felt safe & clean enough and we enjoyed our stay. Again, we did not need much, but this hotel experience was not worth more than $50 a night!!
The whole place does smell old. The bed and sheets passed were just fine. We stayed one night so that we could get to the beach early the next day.
The check in process was also easy. The staff is very friendly.
I was concerned about the state of the room based on the past reviews. (We brought an air mattress and sheets in case it was really bad, but didn’t use them).
The warm water only lasted about 5 minutes. The room did smell very old as well.
The floor was also extremely dirty. I let my one year old crawl around for a minute and his hands and feet were black.
